Visited Old Hong Kong Tea House near Katong area for Hong Kong cafe style food. Vaguely remember seeing this TV being recommended for food lovers and its near my home so lets get this out of my list of places to try!

For starters, the $4.50 carpark fee was ouch...

To order food, you have to fill in paper order forms with a pencil just like most Hong Kong cafe restaurants. One would observe that there is a huge range of food to order from including classics and snacks. Our order was :

  • Crispy roast pork
  • Fried instant noodles with XO sauce (Recommended by the cafe)
  • Baked cheese rice
  • Xiao long bao

Food comments:
  • Roast pork - Served with mustard. It was only slightly crispy but not as fresh as i thought it could be. Taste was alright but honestly this isnt worth the $9. I have had better roast pork for the same price.
  • Fried XO instant noodles - This mixture of stir fried noodles resembled more like Hong Kong fried noodles you get at a tze char store. The mixture of onions, sliced pork, egg, been sprout and the noodles tasted really average. The XO flavor was no where to be detected thus making it mediocre at best. Not worth another 9 bucks for this portion.
  • Baked rice- Was surprisingly moist in the middle. Accompanied with slices of chicken and cheddar cheese. But then again, my partner and i fail to justify its $9.80 price tag as you guessed it; its really just standard hk cafe food you get everywhere.
  • Xiao long bao - As per expert advice, this XLB at $4 a serve was not the best she tried. It was slightly on the salty side but other than that i can't really call it fantastic either...

Final Verdict - 4.5/10 (Was 5/10 but minus 0.5 for expensive parking and food) <>

We are not going back. Need i say more? It is expensive and the food only taste okay. Do tell me if the other items there taste better cause the prices ain't justified for me to try again.

Might be worth a visit if it was cheaper and you don't mind okay food only. Just go visit the usual Hong Kong Cafes you are all familiar with. Your wallet and tummy will thank you for doing so.

ps: yeah my photo's WB is fugged up lol~ Lazy i am~
